Hours
- Monday to Thursday 07:30–16:30 (half-hour tea break, half-hour lunch)
- Friday 07:00–12:00 (half-hour tea break)
- 39 hours per week including breaks
Salary
£28,000–£35,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Role Overview
The QC Inspector performs dimensional and visual inspections on products throughout the production process, from goods-in through to final inspection and booking out, ensuring conformance to customer drawings, specifications, and AS9100 requirements. You will maintain accurate quality records, support FAI activity, and work closely with production and quality teams to identify and resolve non-conformances.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out goods-in inspection of raw materials, bought-out items, and free-issue components; verify against purchase orders, certificates, and specifications
- Perform in-process and final inspection of machined components, brazed and soldered assemblies, and sub-assemblies using precision hand tools and measurement systems
- Inspect and book out finished goods; confirm conformance and complete dispatch documentation
- Interpret engineering drawings including GD&T, tolerances, and surface finish requirements
- Raise and process non-conformance reports; support root cause investigation and corrective action
- Conduct or support First Article Inspections to AS9102
- Record inspection data accurately; maintain quality records within the company ERP/quality system
- Monitor and report quality metrics including defect rates and inspection results
- Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration status is current
- Support customer quality documentation, audits, and source inspection visits

Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable experience with precision inspection tools (micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges, surface finish comparators)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with GD&T
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- NVQ Level 3, HNC, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Quality or equivalent experience

Desirable
- Experience in the aerospace industry
- CMM experience (operation; programming desirable but not essential)
- Experience in an AS9100 or aerospace manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with FAI to AS9102
- Understanding of SPC principles and capability metrics (Cp/Cpk)
- Experience using ERP or quality management systems
- SC clearance or eligibility (due to defence contract work)
