At Heidelberg Materials, quality is at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for a Quality Control Technician to join our technical team, playing a vital role in ensuring the consistent quality and performance of our concrete, asphalt, and quarry products.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and working across a variety of sites while contributing to products used in some of the UK's most important infrastructure and construction projects.

About the Role

As a Quality Control Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out sampling, testing, and specimen preparation activities in line with British and European Standards. Working closely with operational, technical, and commercial teams, you'll help maintain exceptional product quality and support continuous improvement across our business.

You'll be part of a collaborative technical team that is committed to safety, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Conduct sampling, field testing, and specimen preparation of concrete, asphalt, and aggregate products.
  • Carry out testing activities in accordance with relevant British and European standards and company procedures.
  • Support investigations into product quality concerns and site-related issues.
  • Work with operations and technical teams to identify and implement improvements.
  • Assist with concrete, asphalt, and aggregate testing programmes.
  • Undertake preliminary investigations at plants and customer sites.
  • Review product consistency, water demand, site practices, and delivery processes.
  • Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Near Hit reports where appropriate.
  • Support the transportation and management of test specimens.
  • Provide technical support to operational teams, commercial colleagues, and customers.
  • Challenge unsafe behaviours and promote a strong safety and quality culture.
  • Contribute to the effective and cost-efficient manufacture of products across the business.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum Grade 4 (or equivalent Grade C) in GCSE Maths and English.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a wider team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and quality excellence.
