Quality Control Technician

Location: Port Talbot
Salary: £37,783
Compensation: Bonus available + Overtime available at business requirements
Hours: 40 hours 8am - 4pm

We are looking for a Quality Control Technician to join our team in Port Talbot. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the consistent quality of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS), from the inspection of raw materials through to the despatch of finished products to customers.

Working as part of a committed and collaborative team, you will help maintain the highest quality standards, support operational excellence, and contribute to the ongoing success of our production processes.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Quality Control Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring, testing, and reporting on product quality throughout the production process. Key responsibilities include:

  • Sampling and preparing production, delivered, stock, and export granulate materials for testing.
  • Conducting laboratory analysis and testing of granulate samples.
  • Supporting production planning by helping prepare consistent granulate stockpiles for manufacturing.
  • Reviewing and monitoring process quality control data on a daily basis.
  • Carrying out regular sampling and testing of finished GGBS products to ensure compliance with European standards and customer requirements.
  • Inspecting Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and identifying process variations to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining accurate quality records and reporting quality data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing and communicating instances of non-conforming materials and quality variances.
  • Contributing to quality improvement projects and helping achieve site quality objectives and targets.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with technical data and laboratory testing procedures.
  • Analytical and able to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Organised and capable of maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • A strong communicator who can work effectively with both operational and technical teams.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental responsibility.

Previous experience within a quality control, laboratory, manufacturing, production, or process environment would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
