Bedfordshire Growers is looking for a Quality Controller to join our busy Compliance team.
If you have experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, food production or a similar environment, and you're someone who takes pride in getting the details right, this could be the role for you.
You'll play a key part in making sure our products meet customer specifications, food safety standards, company requirements and legislation.
About Us
Bedfordshire Growers is a large farming cooperative established in 1963. Started by a group of like-minded growers producing Brassica crops in the fertile soils of Bedfordshire. By the mid-70s Bedfordshire Growers was one of the foremost producers of Brussel Sprouts.
In 1980 Bedfordshire Growers started to commercially grow onions, initially Brown Onions followed by being the first company to introduce Red Onions to the UK.
What you'll be doing
Your day-to-day role will include:

- Carrying out quality checks on fresh produce throughout production.
- Completing on-line, finished product and shelf-life assessments.
- Checking products against customer specifications.
- Carrying out label and packaging verification checks.
- Identifying and reporting quality or compliance issues.
- Completing routine food safety and compliance checks.
- Maintaining accurate quality records and documentation.
- Supporting audits and the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Attending daily production meetings and feeding back quality issues.
- Helping to maintain high standards of hygiene, housekeeping and food safety.
- Supporting continuous improvement across our quality and compliance processes.
- Escalating any concerns that could affect quality, food safety, legality or customer requirements.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in Quality Control, Quality Assurance or a similar role.
- Ideally experienced in fresh produce or food manufacturing.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident identifying discrepancies and raising concerns.
- Able to work under pressure in a busy packhouse environment.
- Comfortable prioritising tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
- A good communicator who can work effectively with other departments.
- Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Proactive, reliable and willing to learn.
- Someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards.
