Quality Engineer
Permanent, 37.5h, 4 day working week Monday to Thursday
Salary: £40,000-£43,000+benefits

About the role
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring product and process quality across the full lifecycle, applying quality principles within design, incoming materials, production control, product evaluation, programme performance, reliability, inventory control, and research and development activities for both make and buy products.
They will perform technical evaluations of product requirements, specifications, designs, drawings, and procedures, whilst working closely with programme management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain teams, and customers to ensure robust quality standards are established and maintained.
The role involves supporting product failure investigations, contributing to Material Review Board decisions, and driving corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality concerns and improve reliability. The successful candidate will ensure that corrective measures comply with requirements and meet expected reliability standards.
They will develop and implement strategies to improve internal and supplier performance, evaluate quality systems to identify and address deficiencies, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

In addition, they will design and analyse inspection and testing processes, conduct product quality testing, and utilise statistical analysis to assess products and materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
The successful candidate will also support supplier selection activities and maintain supplier certification programmes, helping to ensure a high-performing and compliant supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for all quality issues on project
- Assuring project remains compliant to all business and contractual processes and procedures
- Manage non-conformances end-to-end, including facilitating Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes
- Review and approve quality documentation to ensure compliance with internal and external standards
- Participate in design reviews, providing quality-focused input and guidance
- Contribute to bids and proposals by advising on quality requirements and considerations
Basic Qualifications
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels—from shop floor to senior management—across technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to take ownership and drive issues through to resolution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
- Proficient in IT systems, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with SAP Quality Module is desirable but not essential
- Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA/RCCA) is essential
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g. ISO standards) is advantageous
- Hold a security clearance of DV or higher

Desired Skills
- A background in Materials, CNC Manufacturing & Machining, or low volume high value manufacturing & production, would help, but isn’t strictly necessary to successful application
