Position overview:

Optimas International is currently searching for a Quality Engineer, to be based at our Gloucester site.

This position reports to the UK Quality Manager.

Main responsibilities:

  • Work to resolve nonconformance issues, ensuring minimum disruption and cost to Customers.
  • Lead product problem investigation through the 8D process, ensuring timely containment, RCA and closure within targeted guidelines.
  • Be the direct contact point with customers and to provide on-site customer support when needed.
  • Liaise directly with suppliers to ensure problems with supplied products are promptly addressed.
  • Manage the cost recovery of all expenditure associated with the concerns process and ensure that all targets for cost recovery are met.
  • Manage the disposition of suspect/failed product in a timely manner.
  • Manage quality release activity relating to new/changed products.
  • Work collaboratively with peers and other departments to deliver on the wider business objectives – THREAD.

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Level 5 Quality, technical or engineering qualification, or similar.
  • Previous experience in a Quality role.
  • Experience with Problem Solving, using 8D and/or A3 methodology.
  • Automotive experience ideal, but not essential (interested in Quality Engineers from any sector).
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA & PPAP.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of fasteners and associated manufacturing processes, a benefit but not essential.
  • Ability to use or understand the use of a wide range of measurement and test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings / specifications.
  • Ability to travel and work away from home.
  • Full driving license.
  • Computer literate (PowerPoint, Excel & Word)
