Job Description
Who will you be working with?
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team at the LH Group (a Division of Wabtec UK Ltd) based in Burton on Trent. We support our customers through maintenance and operation optimization with customized solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.

Location: Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, (DE13 8EN)
Hours:
- Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30
- Friday 08:00 to 13:00
- 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
How will you make a difference?
As a Quality Engineer, you will be detail-oriented and highly motivated with a strong mechanical background to join our team in the rail industry. This role will be central to the Bogies team by leading all Quality-related activities from root cause investigations, customer and product audits, ensuring FAI’s are fully documented, and working closely with internal customers.
What you will be doing…
- Lead quality activities for the bogie product range, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Review supplier documentation and complete ISIR/FAIR inspections.
- Manage quality records, non-conformances, and supplier quality issues through WIM reporting.
- Release compliant products to production and quarantine non-conforming items.
- Assess returned products, investigate quality concerns, and report findings.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to resolve rejects and quality-related issues.
- Maintain inspection and quarantine areas in line with 5S standards.
- Prepare quality improvement reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Escalate ongoing quality issues and drive corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
- Provide wider quality support, including basic Quality Engineer responsibilities as required by the business.

Are you an individual with the following?
- HND or an Equivalent in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
- Internal Auditor qualification
- Good Knowledge of core quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, PPAP, with demonstrated application in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use calibrated equipment and inspect components.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple issues.
- IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
