Quality Engineer – PM/Night Shift
Location: Luton
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + 33% Shift Allowance
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 3:45pm – 1:30am
Earn an additional £10,000 - £15,000 for a 4-day working week.
Are you a Quality Engineer who enjoys working independently, solving problems and having a real impact on manufacturing quality?
This could be a great opportunity to step into a PM/Night Shift Quality Engineer position, offering a 33% shift allowance on top of a £40,000–£45,000 basic salary.
Working Monday to Thursday, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of quality across the shift, working closely with Production and Engineering teams to identify issues, investigate root causes and keep manufacturing moving. With fewer layers between you and the shop floor, this is a role where you'll be able to make decisions, solve problems and see the impact of your work first-hand.
Why consider the PM shift?
- An additional shift allowance on top of your basic salary.
- 4-day working week – Monday to Thursday.
- No Friday shift, giving you a longer weekend every week.
- Greater autonomy and ownership across your shift.
- A hands-on role where you'll be close to the manufacturing process.
- The opportunity to make a genuine impact on quality, rather than simply monitoring it.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering and Manufacturing teams to resolve issues as they happen.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
