Working closely with the CNC Machine Shop, Welding, Electropolishing, Inspection, Engineering, and Production teams, you will help strengthen manufacturing processes and ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
The successful candidate will investigate non-conformances, lead corrective actions, support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, and drive practical improvements across the manufacturing operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Quality Engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working directly with production teams, and making a visible impact on quality performance.
Key Responsibilities

- Monitor product quality across CNC machining, welding, electropolishing, finishing, and inspection activities.
- Identify quality risks and improvement opportunities to reduce defects, waste, rework, and customer complaints.
- Investigate internal, customer, supplier, and process-related non-conformances using structured root-cause analysis.
- Develop, implement, and monitor corrective and preventive actions, ensuring they are completed effectively and on time.
- Maintain accurate quality records covering NCRs, inspection data, audit findings, and corrective actions.
- Work closely with production managers, engineering teams, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns.
- Support first-article inspections, process validation, capability studies, production approvals, and inspection planning.
- Review production data, inspection reports, supplier performance, welding documentation, and quality trends.
- Support welding quality, weld-defect reduction, welder qualification records, and competency programmes.
- Improve CNC machining quality through dimensional control, measurement techniques, and process capability.
- Monitor electropolishing and surface-finishing quality, investigating defects and improving process consistency.
- Support inspection plans, calibration control, dimensional inspection, and quality documentation.
- Participate in internal, customer, supplier, and certification audits, ensuring findings are closed effectively.
- Lead and support continuous improvement projects focused on reducing the cost of poor quality, scrap, and rework.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing, structured problem-solving, and a right-first-time culture across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
