About The Role

Hays is seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Engineer to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturing company based in County Down. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a professional passionate about maintaining high standards of product quality and continuous improvement within a regulated manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards, and driving initiatives that enhance overall quality performance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and external stakeholders, to investigate issues, implement corrective actions, and uphold the company's commitment to excellence.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in quality assurance or engineering within a manufacturing setting. Relevant qualifications include a degree or diploma in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline. Proven experience working with ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems is essential. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications is required. Additionally, experience with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, and thread gauges is necessary. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are critical for success in this role. Familiarity with data analysis software, particularly Microsoft Excel, will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the Quality Engineer include:

  • Verifying product conformity against engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements through detailed inspections.
  • Conducting measurements using precision equipment to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Managing non-conformance reports (NCRs) and leading root cause analyses.
  • Implementing corrective and preventative actions to address quality issues.
  • Investigating customer complaints and collaborating with suppliers to improve quality performance.
  • Supporting and maintaining the Quality Management System.
  • Preparing for internal and external audits.
  • Analyzing quality data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Monitoring key metrics such as NCRs, customer complaints, scrap rates, rework levels, and first pass yield to track quality performance.
  • Supporting Lean Manufacturing initiatives, 5S practices, and other continuous improvement projects.
  • Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence and uphold the company's quality standards.
