A Day in Your Life at MKS
As a Quality Engineer at MKS Mass Spectrometry Solutions (MSS) in our company based in Crewe (UK), you will partner with Engineering, Operations, Service, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to improve product quality, support new product introduction activities, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and business quality requirements. In this role, you will report to the Quality Engineering Manager, Sophia.
You Will Make an Impact By:
- Develops, evaluates, revises, and applies technical quality assurance protocols/methods to inspect and test in-process raw materials, production equipment, and finished products
- Ensures activities and items are in compliance with both company quality assurance standards and applicable government regulations
- Performs analysis and identifies trends in the inspection of finished products, in-process materials and bulk raw materials, and recommends corrective actions when necessary
- Ensures that established manufacturing inspection, sampling and statistical process control procedures are followed
- May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards, such as GMPs and ISO regulations
- Plans, performs, and supports internal ISO 9001 and process audits, including identification of improvement opportunities, verification of corrective actions, and support of external audits
- Evaluates and analyzes the efforts in organizing, documenting, and interpreting inspection support documents and records
- Supports quality investigations, root cause analysis, CAPA activities, and continuous improvement initiatives using quality tools and methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, statistical analysis, and structured problem-solving techniques

Skills You Bring:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Experience leading quality investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA activities using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, statistical analysis, and other structured problem-solving techniques to drive continuous improvement
- Experience conducting internal, supplier, or process audits and supporting compliance with quality management systems
- Experience supporting First Article Inspection (FAI), product qualification, and manufacturing readiness activities to ensure successful introduction of new products into production
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements, auditing principles, FMEA, control plans, and quality system requirements
Preferred Skills:
- Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training in ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems
- Experience supporting Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Gauge R&R studies, statistical analysis, or process capability improvement activities
- Experience within semiconductor, instrumentation, electronics, vacuum technology, or high-technology manufacturing environments
- Experience supporting supplier quality, incoming inspection, or manufacturing quality activities
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
