Overview We have a new opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Engineering group at Pragmatic Semiconductor in Durham. Reporting to the Compliance Director and based at our manufacturing site, Pragmatic Park, this is a key role which has responsibility for driving quality improvements, mainly internal but also covering for customer quality where required.
We are looking for candidates ideally with semiconductor / advanced manufacturing experience, and the ability to work in cross-functional environment in a highly-effective manner. We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of driving manufacturing quality improvements, and the ability to influence stakeholders.
You will be joining a very supportive, established Quality function and will have the opportunity to shape this role - as well as having a clear impact in a group that is central to our business goals.
For the right candidate, we are able to offer Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance to Durham, UK.
Key tasks
- Work with the Operations team to drive best practice & improve manufacturing metrics and performance
- Lead the implementation and analysis of the Fab Quality system, as well as sustaining and improvement
- Lead and champion Quality problem-solving and improvement opportunities as determined through data analysis, customer audits, complaints, Six Sigma projects, and other quality-related programs
- Lead Change management system, and track progress and actions effectively
- Develop and deliver necessary training to staff
- Write, review and approve reports, SOP’s and other technical documentation, and communicate effectively to other stakeholders
- Lead internal & external audits and manage supplier quality programs
- Establish robust and proactive reporting and investigative processes to improve engagement with staff and reduce Quality non-conformances across the business
- Participate in the CRB/MRB process and provide informed suggestions to management
- Maintain, improve and streamline the IMS to support the workforce and ensure compliance with ISO standards

Qualifications and training We don't require specific qualifications or education for this role; we are more interested in demonstrable industry experience gained in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment (ideally semiconductor/advanced manufacturing).

Skills and experience
- Experience of implementing and maintaining Quality Management standards/systems, and applying risk-based thinking
- In depth knowledge of techniques such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D, APQP, RCA, Kaizen
- Demonstrated ability to apply Structured Root Cause Analysis to resolve issues and problems, including Situational, 5 Why, 8D
- Audit Skills
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders
- Ability to allocate and prioritise deadlines to ensure targets are met
- Strong administrative/organisational skills
- Experienced in adhering to ISO 9001/14001/27001 standards
- A proactive attitude and ability to act as a role model; and work to the highest standards to ensure Quality criteria are always upheld.
