Quality Engineer

Colchester, UK

Talented people are the key to our success.

Would you like to work for an inclusive and collaborative company that is one of the most successful within the UK infrastructure industry?

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Quality Engineer to join our team, supporting the delivery of a major National Grid infrastructure project valued at approximately £600m. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of significant Overhead Line (OHL) and Underground Cable (UGC) works as the project progresses from Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) into full delivery.

As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and driving quality standards across the project, ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, and the successful implementation of quality processes throughout the construction lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to take a leading position within a major national infrastructure programme while working alongside experienced project professionals.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of quality requirements across Overhead Line (OHL) and Underground Cable (UGC) project packages.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure project quality documentation is completed, controlled, and maintained in accordance with project requirements.
  • Conduct quality inspections, audits, and assurance activities.
  • Monitor compliance with project specifications, standards, and procedures.
  • Support the identification, reporting, and resolution of quality issues and non-conformances.
  • Work closely with project teams to promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.
  • Contribute to quality reporting and provide technical support on quality-related matters.
  • Assist in ensuring all works are delivered in line with client and regulatory requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
