About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing team near Redditch. This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of quality throughout the production process, particularly focusing on new product introduction (NPI) and aerospace components. The successful candidate will work closely with the Manufacturing Manager and the wider quality team to oversee quality assurance activities, conduct FAIRS (First Article Inspection Reports), review technical documentation, and manage parts through the entire manufacturing cycle from concept to completion. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a background in precision engineering processes such as EDM machining, multi-axis laser cutting, welding, or forming metals with hydraulics presses to contribute to a dynamic and innovative environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and quality management experience. While specific qualifications are not mandatory, the following are desirable:

  • Previous experience working with EDM machining, multi-axis laser, welding, or forming metals using hydraulics presses.
  • Experience in a quality-focused role within a precision engineering or aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to review technical documents and inspection reports.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of activities aimed at maintaining and enhancing product quality, including:

  • Leading and supporting the NPI process by conducting FAIRS and reviewing technical documentation to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Owning parts through the entire production cycle, from initial concept to final manufacture, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Performing detailed inspections and audits on incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections, non-conformances, and corrective actions in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize quality processes and reduce defects.
  • Supporting supplier quality activities and conducting supplier audits when necessary.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, particularly in aerospace and power & energy sectors.
