Quality Engineer
Droitwich Spa | Full-time | On-site
Gapp Search is working with a growing engineering and manufacturing business in Droitwich Spa that designs and builds complex mechanical and electromechanical systems.
They are looking for a Quality Engineer to join the site team and take ownership of product quality across inspection, documentation, non-conformance, traceability, and continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable on the shop floor, working closely with production, engineering, suppliers, and third-party inspectors.
What you’ll be doing
- Coordinate incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities.
- Inspect assemblies against drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and technical specifications.
- Review NDT, pressure test, and electrical test records.
- Maintain material traceability, calibration controls, and quality documentation.
- Create and manage ITPs, inspection checklists, quality plans, weld maps, NCRs, and concessions.
- Compile turnover documentation including MTCs, welding records, NDT records, FAT/SAT reports, and test certificates.
- Lead root-cause and corrective-action activity using tools such as 5 Whys and Ishikawa.
- Use SPC and defect data to reduce rework and recurring quality issues.
- Feed manufacturability and quality improvements back into Design and Production.
- Support welders, fitters, and assembly teams with inspection and quality requirements.
- Host client and third-party inspections and manage hold and witness points.

What we’re looking for
- Quality engineering experience within mechanical, electromechanical, fabrication, modular plant, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, electrical schematics, and technical data sheets.
- Experience with dimensional inspection, pressure testing, torque control, and basic electrical testing.
- Good understanding of welding quality, material traceability, and NDT.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and controlled quality documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and confidence working directly with production teams, suppliers, clients, and inspectors.

Advantageous
- Six Sigma / Green Belt.
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Experience with PED/UKCA, ASME, or EN piping standards, ATEX, or pressure systems.
- SPC, CAPA, and structured NCR management.
- E&I testing, loop checks, continuity/IR testing, or VFD familiarity.
The opportunity

You’ll have direct influence over how products are inspected, documented, and improved, with exposure across the full build and test lifecycle.
