Job Description
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join an established manufacturing business and play a key role within their quality and engineering function.
This is a hands-on role within a machine shop environment, supporting APQP, NPI, PPAP, customer quality requirements, and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with both manufacturing and customers to identify and resolve quality issues, improve processes, and ensure consistently high standards are maintained.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment and a good understanding of core quality processes and tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Support APQP and NPI activities within the machine shop.
- Generate PPAP documentation in line with customer requirements during NPI projects.
- Support customer 8D / CAR requirements and work closely with customers and manufacturing teams to ensure effective problem resolution and prevention of recurrence.
- Review and analyse daily scrap data, updating metric display boards and QOS reports.
- Support and oversee internal and external calibration processes.
- Develop and improve in-house calibration procedures and processes to reduce reliance on external calibration laboratories.
- Carry out internal process audits and daily process compliance inspections to ensure procedures and quality requirements are being followed.
- Prepare and maintain work instructions covering both production and quality requirements.
- Provide quality-related training and mentoring to shop floor personnel.
- Create new CMM programmes to support NPI activity and existing production parts.
- Carry out patrol inspections and pre-dispatch inspections to ensure customers are protected from known or historic quality issues.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required as part of the role.

About You
We’re looking for someone with a strong quality engineering background who is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and getting involved at shop-floor level.

You should have a good understanding of:
- APQP
- FMEA
- Control Plans
- SPC – desirable
- MSA – desirable
- PPAP
- 8D / CAR
- Quality and process auditing
- GD&T – desirable
- CMM programming – desirable
Experience using PC-DMIS for CMM programming would be particularly advantageous.
You’ll need to be confident working independently, communicating with both customers and internal teams, and taking ownership of quality issues through to resolution.
Training & Development
CMM and GD&T experience is desirable, but full internal training is available, so candidates with a strong quality engineering background who are looking to develop these skills will also be considered.
What's on Offer
- £36,000–£42,000 starting salary
- Potential to earn up to £45,000 for the right candidate
- 39-hour working week
- Daytime working hours
- Monday–Thursday: 08:00–16:30
- Friday: 08:00–15:00
- Some flexibility around working hours may be available
- Opportunity to develop CMM and GD&T skills through internal training
