Quality Engineer

Location: Suffolk
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time - 40 hours - Monday to Friday

Job Role

Are you passionate about delivering projects right first time and driving a culture of excellence?

Taylor Woodrow is seeking a proactive and detail-focused Quality Engineer to support the successful delivery of major infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

As a key member of the project quality team, you will play a vital role in ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, and industry quality standards, while promoting a strong Defect Free culture across the project.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will work closely with operational teams, subcontractors, designers, and stakeholders to ensure quality processes are effectively implemented throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Supporting the implementation and maintenance of project quality management systems.
  • Communicating project quality requirements and updates to site and project teams.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Conducting internal quality audits and supporting audits of design partners and supply chain organisations.
  • Reviewing subcontractor quality documentation and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Supporting the management of NCRs, snagging processes, and the timely close-out of corrective actions.
  • Promoting a proactive Quality and Defect Free culture across all project activities.
  • Assisting with project handover documentation and undertaking regular progress reviews.
  • Delivering quality awareness training and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring all activities align with company sustainability and carbon reduction objectives.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a Quality Engineer, Quality Coordinator, or Quality Assurance role within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, utilities, or construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001 principles.
  • Experience developing and reviewing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Knowledge of auditing processes and quality assurance practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships across project teams and supply chain partners.
  • Auditor qualification, or a willingness to undertake training, would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of BIM and digital construction processes would be beneficial.
