QA Automation Engineer – Contractor Job Specification
Job Requirements
- Extensive experience driving quality engineering initiatives across complex technology delivery programmes.
- Demonstrated track record of implementing and advancing quality engineering practices and test automation capabilities across functional, regression, performance, resilience, and end-to-end testing.
- Hands-on experience with modern test management platforms such as Zephyr, TestRail, or equivalent tools.
- Strong practical knowledge of test automation frameworks and technologies, including Playwright, Cucumber, and Java-based automation solutions.
- Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks using Java and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of DevOps and Continuous Testing practices, with hands-on experience using GitLab, GitLab CI/CD, and pipeline-based quality gates to improve delivery confidence and speed.
- Experience embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle, including automated testing within build, deployment, and release pipelines.
- Passionate about adopting a metrics-driven approach to quality engineering, using data and insights to drive continuous improvement and delivery outcomes.
- Diligent with a willingness to dive deep into systems, processes, and technical challenges to identify root causes and quality risks.
- Strong experience working within Agile delivery environments and collaborating closely with multi-functional engineering, product, and platform teams.

Education and Experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience applying a range of testing methodologies and practices, including BDD.
- Knowledge of FX products and financial services technology environments.
- Hands-on experience with Murex application testing and support, including trade processing, reporting, interfaces, and batch operations. Skilled in batch monitoring, failure analysis, reconciliation, defect management, and ensuring successful completion of daily and overnight processing cycles is desirable.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and champion quality across engineering teams.
- Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to handle competing priorities and deliver to challenging deadlines.
- Ability to read, understand, review, and contribute to code, supporting testability, automation, and engineering quality improvements.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership and drive adoption of quality engineering guidelines without direct people management responsibility.
- Experience partnering with distributed and global engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
