Quality Engineer (Automotive)

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a global automotive technology manufacturer at its Bolton facility. Their focus on quality, continuous improvement, electrification and next-generation vehicle technologies makes this an excellent opportunity for a quality professional looking to develop their career within a highly technical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary customer interface for all quality-related issues.
  • Manage line returns, warranty returns and customer complaints, ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor, analyse and report quality KPI performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support Quality Technicians with product investigations and testing activities.
  • Develop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions and test specifications.
  • Manage internal and external concession requests.
  • Conduct supplier audits and support supplier quality improvement activities.
  • Complete customer quality documentation including APQP, PPAP and related requirements.
  • Analyse process capability and R&R data, working closely with Production Engineering to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, IATF 16949 standards and internal quality systems.

Experience/Qualifications

  • HNC/HND qualified in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a Quality Engineering position.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience is preferred, although applications from high-volume electronics or assembly manufacturing environments are also welcome.
  • Strong understanding of IATF 16949 and automotive quality tools.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, Control Plans, Process Flow Analysis, R&R Studies and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience liaising directly with customers and suppliers on quality matters.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
