Job Summary

Based at our East Cowes facilities on the Isle of Wight, reporting to the Chief Manufacturing Engineer, the Quality Engineer will act as the primary customer-facing contact for all quality-related matters across our Defence and Civil Aerospace business lines.

This role is open to both experienced professionals and candidates looking to transition into Quality/Manufacturing Engineering with training and mentorship provided.

Core Responsibilities:

You will ensure customer and regulatory compliance by identifying and documenting product/process requirements, establishing/maintaining consistent procedures, plans, and processes. You must also be prepared for ad-hoc national/international travel (quarterly, depending on customer needs).


Key Responsibilities

  • Work in adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies, upholding the highest standards for personnel and visitors.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to develop performance strategies and performance metrics for products and manufacturing processes.
  • Create or support comprehensive quality plans across the business.
  • Provide expert guidance on all quality matters to related departments.
  • Lead corrective and preventative action implementation, as well as continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyse quality data to identify process improvements, and develop action plans to prevent future failures.
  • Facilitate customer meetings to agree action plans that improve build quality.

Job Requirements

Essential:

✔ Demonstrable experience in Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, or relevant aerospace production roles. ✔ Customer-facing mindset to act as a key contact. ✔ Track record of driving quality/process improvements—calculation, problem-solving essential. ✔ Flexibility for national/international travel when required.

Desirable:

✖ Audit experience ✖ Understanding of APQP tools (Advanced Product Quality Planning) via AS9145. ✖ HNC specialist certificate or equivalent. ✖ Experience using an MRP/ERP system. ✖ Experience with AS9100 Lead Auditor standards. ✖ Green Belt Certified (Lean/Six Sigma preferred).
