About The Role

As a Quality Engineer within Hays, you will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the quality standards of a reputable manufacturing organization. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, your primary responsibility will be to support and develop quality management systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001:2015. You will lead root cause analysis and improvement initiatives to minimize non-conformance costs and elevate product quality. Collaborating closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and customers, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that quality is embedded into every aspect of manufacturing, ultimately contributing to customer satisfaction and organizational success.

Qualifications

  • Third-level qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Quality Control role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 standards and quality management principles
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis using methodologies such as 5 Why, 8D, and Cause & Effect analysis
  • Knowledge of manufacturing special processes such as welding and painting (desirable)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations, implement corrective and preventive actions, and monitor key quality metrics to drive continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify areas for process enhancement and support the implementation of best practices
  • Conduct internal audits, facilitate external audits, and ensure that manufacturing processes adhere to quality standards
  • Work closely with engineering and supply chain teams to review and approve manufacturing documentation, validate processes, and oversee the inspection and testing of products
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on quality procedures and promote a culture of quality awareness throughout the organization
