What to Expect
McLaren Automotive is seeking a Quality Engineer - Problem Management to join our highly skilled and dynamic Quality team. This role will play a key part in ensuring world-class quality standards across McLaren vehicle programmes, acting as the voice of the customer and driving robust issue resolution throughout the product lifecycle.
Based within our Technical Quality Problem Management function, you will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Vehicle Programme, Supplier Quality, Validation and Aftersales teams to drive robust problem resolution, continuous improvement, and quality excellence across your assigned vehicle modules.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of high-performance luxury vehicles while helping to shape and mature quality processes that support McLaren's ambition to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the Quality Manager, Problem Management, you will be the recognised quality representative and primary point of contact for all quality-related topics within your assigned programmes.
- Act as the subject matter expert for quality within your assigned programmes, representing the voice of the customer throughout the product lifecycle.
- Own the definition, tracking and delivery of module quality metrics, targets and quality objectives.
- Manage quality deliverables for complex vehicle systems and modules such as Chassis, Steering, Powertrain, Electrical Systems, Interior or Vehicle Integration.
- Lead the problem management landscape within your assigned responsibility, ensuring concerns are appropriately assigned, investigated and progressed through the Product Problem Management process within agreed timelines.
- Monitor containment, corrective actions and permanent resolution activities to ensure quality targets and customer expectations are achieved.
- Utilise established quality tools and methods to support module teams in achieving overall programme quality objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Design, Development, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Validation and Aftersales to embed a quality-focused culture.
- Facilitate the effective capture and deployment of lessons learned, ensuring customer feedback and field data are proactively incorporated into product development and validation activities.
- Support programme gateways and quality reviews by providing clear assessments of quality status, risk and readiness.

What You'll Bring
- Degree qualification, or equivalent experience, in Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management or a related discipline.
- Experience working in a quality engineering, problem management, product development or manufacturing quality environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively and independently while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of automotive product development and quality management methodologies.
- Experience working collaboratively across cross-functional teams including Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality and Aftersales.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and drive effective corrective actions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all organisational levels.
- Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality products and continuous improvement.

Desirable Experience
- Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, A3, DMAIC or equivalent.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Six Sigma or other automotive quality tools.
- Experience within premium, luxury or high-performance automotive environments.
- Familiarity with product concern management systems and quality reporting tools.
