Quality Engineer (QMS) 617/28656 (AR)
Location: Plymouth, Devon : easily commutable from Ivybridge, Saltash, Tavistock, Newton Abbot, Torquay, Exeter, Paignton, Liskeard and surrounding areas.
Salary: GBP38,000 : GBP50,000 + Excellent Benefits
Working Hours: Monday to Friday

I'm working with a long-established global manufacturer supplying high-performance products and infrastructure solutions to some of the world's leading technology organizations. Due to continued growth and investment, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quality Engineer to join their Quality team.
This is an excellent opportunity to further your career within a highly respected engineering and manufacturing environment, playing a key role in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS), driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with customer and industry requirements.
The Role
As a Quality Engineer, you will support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System while working closely with production, engineering, customers, and suppliers to ensure the highest quality standards are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Support compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards
- Lead and participate in internal and external quality audits
- Drive corrective and preventive actions through structured problem-solving techniques
- Conduct root cause investigations using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, and Ishikawa
- Analyse quality data and identify trends to support continuous improvement activities
- Manage non-conformance processes and ensure effective resolution
- Develop and update quality documentation, procedures, work instructions, and control plans
- Support customer quality requirements and investigate customer complaints
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve process capability and product quality
- Monitor KPIs and quality performance metrics
- Support risk management activities including PFMEA reviews and process validation activities

Essential Skills And Experience
- Previous experience in a Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance Engineer, or Quality Systems Engineer position
- Strong experience maintaining and developing a Quality Management System (QMS)
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 within a manufacturing environment
- Experience conducting internal audits and supporting external audits
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills (8D, 5 Why, RCA)
- Ability to analyse quality data and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation control experience
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Desirable Skills
- Quality or Engineering qualification
- Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or highly regulated industries
- Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC
- Experience with SAP
- Understanding of customer quality requirements and complaint management
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies
