About The Role

You will provide independent Quality and Product Assurance support to the company, inclusive of providing Quality & Product Assurance expertise to the business, maintaining quality levels, supporting improvement activities and undertaking internal auditing.
Quality Engineer will be based at our Barnstaple site. This role allows for flexible working.
The salary for this role is up to £44k, depending on experience.
What you'll be doing
- Audit internal processes, projects, and suppliers against the Business Management System, AS9100, and defence-specific requirements
- Attend and contribute to project gate reviews, ensuring quality requirements, risks, and deliverables are effectively assessed and controlled at each stage of the lifecycle including flow-down of requirements to the supply chain
- Conduct supplier audits and manage supplier-related risks, non-conformances, and concessions to effective closure where required
- Oversee root cause analysis and corrective actions, ensuring robust and sustainable solutions
- Verify supplier First Article Inspection (FAI) in line with AS9102 and ensure full documentation compliance where required
- Support incoming inspection and validate supplier certification, traceability, and conformity evidence
- Manage audit findings and quality actions, ensuring timely closure and audit readiness
- Drive continuous improvement across internal functions and the supplier base, focusing on risk reduction and right-first-time delivery
- Provide quality support to engineering, procurement, programmes, and operations
- Participate in customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, ensuring full compliance and preparedness

The skills you need
- Previous experience within a similar role
- Experience of ISO 9001 & AS 9100
- Experience conducting audits
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment
- Practical experience of Continuous Improvement techniques and problem solving
- Strong Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
