About the Role

In this varied apprenticeship you will learn to carry out inspection and testing to ensure that received products fulfil TE or customer specifications and requirements. You will be inspecting purchased parts, materials, sub-assemblies or finished products using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurement equipment.

PRIMARY PURPOSE - you will learn to:

  • Carry out inspection and testing to ensure that received products fulfil TE or customer specifications and requirements.
  • Work in ensuring that the various Quality team’s KPI’s and Processes, are met and maintained in the support of production and customer service.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Performs inspections of purchased parts, materials, sub-assemblies or finished products according to inspection plans using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurement equipment
  • Document inspection and test results in a traceable manner in a database or other internal programmes
  • Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner
  • Monitor inspection and test equipment to ensure proper operation and use of calibrated equipment
  • Assist in creating / updating of inspection plans, test procedures, SOPs for the incoming inspection function
  • Initiate Vendor Non-conformance reports as required
  • Work with other company personnel to address inspection issues, questions
  • Achieve Key Performance Indicator targets based on Financial Year goals
  • Assist in other Quality Department activities as reasonably requested from time to time
  • Observe Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation

Training and Development

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience. Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

On completion of the apprenticeship, you will have achieved the following qualification:

  • Engineering and manufacturing support technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard ST1395
  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Level 3 Diploma

The final apprenticeship completion certificate will be issued on achievement of the above qualification and successful completion of the end point assessment.

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English, Maths (grade 4/5 C or above)

Desirable Qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • Science, ICT (grade 4/5 C or above)
