About the Role
As a Quality Engineering Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, the projects assigned will vary based on the intern’s education level and plant location but will generally reflect the duties outlined below.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.
- Work safely and assure plant safety policies are followed.
- Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
- Manage test equipment calibrations.
- Create new operating efficiencies to maintain the production, testing, and shipping of steel with a leaner workforce.
- Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on-call support.
- Responsible for data-mining investigations with metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.
- Responsible for Metallurgical grade maintenance and development.
- Manage 3rd party testing inspection.
- Maintain tracking of Steelmaking scrap, referral, and diversions.
- Responsible for Metallurgical investigations.

Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in the field of Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or other related technical degree
- Completion of at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027
- Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
