Quality Engineering Lead
At WTW, quality is a shared responsibility and a critical enabler of successful delivery. As a Quality Engineering Lead, you will shape and lead the quality engineering strategy across a major Platform engineering function, ensuring testing and verification practices evolve alongside modern software delivery, including AI-assisted development. You will champion a shift-left, risk-based approach to quality, embed best practices across delivery teams, and build a culture where quality is engineered into every stage of the software lifecycle.
This is a leadership role with responsibility for defining quality strategy, developing talent, influencing engineering standards, and ensuring the right balance between delivery speed, risk management, and customer outcomes.
The Role
- Lead quality engineering practice across Platform, embedding testing into delivery rather than gating at the end of it
- Define verification approaches that scale alongside growing AI-assisted code volume
- Own test strategy across a mixed portfolio of new and legacy work, applying the right approach to each
- Extend testing beyond functional and regression coverage into performance, accessibility, and resilience
- Partner with product, business, and engineering stakeholders to define what quality means for each initiative
- Align closely with the QA Guild as Platform's primary representative, feeding standards in and cascading decisions back out
- Ensure security and quality scanning are implemented to deliver the best value across the pipeline
- Evaluate and select testing tools and frameworks as the landscape evolves
- Feed production defect and incident learnings back into test strategy
- Recruit, coach, and mentor QA engineers across the function, including embedded and partner-augmented roles
- Be a leader in driving a culture of quality across Platform

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
