Quality Manager – Precision Engineering
Location: Poole, Dorset
Employment: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: 39 hours per week – early finish Friday
The Opportunity
An established precision engineering manufacturer is looking for an experienced Quality Manager to lead its quality function while remaining hands-on with inspection and metrology.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will take ownership of the AS9100 / ISO 9001 Quality Management System, lead the inspection team and work closely with production, customers and suppliers to maintain high standards across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining quality leadership and continuous improvement with practical inspection work.
Key Responsibilities
- Own, maintain and continually improve the AS9100 / ISO 9001 QMS.
- Plan and support internal, customer and supplier audits.
- Manage NCRs, concessions, corrective actions and customer 8D reports.
- Lead and develop the Quality and Inspection team.
- Drive Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement activities.
- Manage calibration and support supplier quality and approval activities.
- Carry out dimensional inspection of precision-engineered components.
- Operate and programme fixed and portable CMM equipment.
- Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and associated documentation.
- Monitor quality performance and promote a strong quality culture across the business.

About You
You will ideally have:
- Quality experience within precision engineering or manufacturing, ideally within a highly regulated sector.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T and weld symbols.
- Strong dimensional inspection and metrology experience, including CMM operation and programming.
- Experience managing non-conformances and using problem-solving techniques such as RCA and 8D.
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
- A relevant engineering, technical or management qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent time-served experience.

Experience with AS9102 FAI, machining or welding processes, ERP/MRP systems and internal auditing would be advantageous.
