About the job
We are recruiting a Quality Improvement Engineer for a precision manufacturing business in Leeds. This is a hands-on, shop-floor focused role with real scope to improve processes, strengthen quality performance and support compliance within the medical device sector.
Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams, you'll play a key role in reducing defects, improving process capability and ensuring products consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements whilst overseeing end-to-end machining processes.

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading root-cause investigations using 8D, DMAIC and 5 Whys
- Driving improvements to reduce defects, scrap and rework
- Analysing manufacturing data and identifying improvement opportunities
- Applying SPC, Cp/Cpk and MSA to improve process capability
- Supporting validation activities including IQ, OQ and PQ
- Maintaining compliance with ISO 13485 and regulatory requirements
- Supporting internal, external and customer audits
- Improving SOPs, quality documentation and the QMS
- Working closely with Production and Engineering teams on the shop floor
- Supporting customer issue resolution and improving OTIF performance
- Delivering quality training and awareness across the site

What you will bring:
- 3+ years' experience in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering
- Experience within medical devices or another regulated environment, e.g. aerospace
- Strong knowledge of ISO 13485
- Experience with SPC, Minitab or equivalent statistical tools
- A structured, data-driven approach to problem solving
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to influence and collaborate across functions
- Experience with CNC machining would be advantageous
