Quality Inspector - Incoming Goods

A leading defence engineering organisation is looking for a Quality Inspector - Incoming Goods to ensure components, assemblies and materials received from suppliers meet the required quality and contractual standards before entering the manufacturing process.
This is a hands-on inspection role within a busy manufacturing environment, offering the opportunity to work across a range of mechanical and electronic products while playing an important role in maintaining product quality.
The Role
You will inspect incoming products against purchase orders, engineering drawings and quality requirements, identifying and controlling any issues before materials enter production.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting incoming components, assemblies and materials against specified requirements
- Checking delivered products against purchase orders, drawings and supporting documentation
- Carrying out visual and dimensional inspections to identify defects, damage or poor workmanship
- Supporting First Article Inspection activities
- Inspecting PCBs and other electronic assemblies where required
- Completing inspection records and associated quality documentation
- Checking supplier paperwork and ensuring all required documentation is complete
- Identifying non-conforming products and ensuring defective items are appropriately segregated
- Raising and maintaining defect reports
- Supporting audits and maintaining product verification processes
- Ensuring inspection activities are completed within required manufacturing timescales
- Following relevant quality, manufacturing, health and safety procedures
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and product quality across the inspection process

What We're Looking For
- Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience within a manufacturing, inspection or quality environment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
- Good attention to detail with a methodical approach to inspection and quality control
- Experience identifying defects and non-conforming products
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A customer-focused and adaptable approach to changing processes and priorities
- SAP experience would be beneficial
