About The Role

Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Quality Inspector to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project.

The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK - creating six times more green space than road. The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time.

We have a diverse programme team on LTC that reflects the communities we work in and fosters an inclusive culture by actively supporting the programme's Purpose, Principles and Cultural Pillars and growing employee networks.

As a Quality Inspector, you will participate in implementing quality control standards and procedures, and performing quality control checks and inspections on projects work and materials for ensuring conformity to the set standards and procedures.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensures the correct implementation of quality standards and procedures for testing received supplies and materials for conformities and non-conformities
  • Performs regular inspections on labour activities engaged in quality control testing of materials and/ or finished work
  • Inspects warehouses and storage areas and ensuring they are according to the set storing standards and conditions for maintaining the quality of materials and equipment
  • Maintains records on all quality checks performed and ensures proper data entry onto the system and documents control
  • Reports to the Quality engineers all cases of deficiency and/or Non Conformities and issues Quality reports as required
  • Keeps records of quality inspections and informing Quality engineers with any difficulties encountered during inspection

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
