Quality Engineer - Precision Manufacturing

💷 £60,000 DOE Plus Shares

Are you a hands-on Quality Engineer who enjoys working closely with production teams, solving manufacturing challenges and driving quality improvements across a precision engineering environment? We are recruiting for multiple Quality Engineers to join a growing advanced manufacturing business producing complex components for highly regulated industries. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern machine shop environment, supporting quality performance across manufacturing, engineering and supply chain functions.
The Role
As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in driving quality excellence across the business. You will be responsible for leading investigations, supporting audits, implementing corrective actions and ensuring products, processes and systems consistently meet customer, regulatory and industry requirements. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong machining, manufacturing or engineering background who is passionate about problem solving, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day quality activities across machining and manufacturing operations
- Drive root cause investigations relating to internal non-conformances, customer complaints and supplier quality issues
- Lead the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify effectiveness
- Conduct process audits and product audits to ensure compliance with internal procedures and customer requirements
- Support external customer, regulatory and certification audits
- Analyse quality performance data and identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
- Utilise a variety of quality tools including:
- 8D
- 5 Why
- Fishbone (Ishikawa)
- FMEA
- Control Plans
- SPC
- PPAP
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in line with AS9102 and customer requirements
- Review engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Work closely with production teams to improve manufacturing processes and reduce quality defects
- Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring quality requirements are incorporated from project inception
- Support supplier quality management activities and supplier development initiatives
- Maintain compliance with AS9100, ISO9001 and customer-specific quality standards
- Assist in quality system improvements and continuous improvement projects across the business

What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Quality Engineer within a precision machining, manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality processes and methodologies
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and technical specifications
- Knowledge of inspection techniques and measurement equipment
- Experience working within ISO9001 and/or AS9100 certified environments
- Proficient in quality problem-solving tools and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across production, engineering and quality functions
- A proactive and hands-on approach to quality improvement

Desirable Experience
- Aerospace, Defence, Automotive or Advanced Manufacturing background
- Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification
- Experience supporting customer audits
- Working knowledge of FAIRs and AS9102 documentation
- Experience with CMM inspection processes
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP and Statistical Process Control techniques
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Yellow Belt or similar Continuous Improvement qualification
