Position Purpose
The Quality Inspector is responsible for supporting the UK Quality function through a combination of visual inspection, dimensional checks, quality documentation, traceability control, and project quality coordination. The role provides visible shop-floor quality support while also ensuring that material certificates, inspection records, welding compliance documentation, QA packs, and project quality files are complete, accurate, traceable, and correctly stored. The role supports machined, fabricated, assembled, and bought-in parts, helping to identify non-conformances, maintain inspection records, escalate quality issues, and support continuous improvement activity.
Essential Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection requirements, and project documentation.
- Use Epicor and business systems to retrieve, check, and update quality records.
- Carry out incoming inspection of bought-in parts, materials, and components.
- Maintain traceability between purchase order, material certificate, part number, project, and inspection record.
- Escalate defects, drawing issues, missing documentation, and inspection concerns to the Welding Engineer.
- Maintain clear documentation of certified material using the ERP system.
- Perform tasks to company standards to efficiently and effectively meet department goals.
- Communicate with other team members and maintain flexibility as priorities change throughout the shift.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe workspace, including tools and equipment.
- Accurately capture all labor hours in Epicor.
- Ensure TAIT's 5 standards of care are coordinated into daily activities: Safety, Quality, Team, Schedule, and Cost.
- Take ownership for decisions, actions, performance, and behavior.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.
- Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company.
- Support Right First Time rate reduction and quality improvement activities through accurate inspection data and reporting.
- Complete inspections efficiently and accurately, while maintaining documentation requirements for certified material and ensuring compliance documentation is kept up to date.

Minimum Qualifications
- 1-3 plus years of experience as a Quality Inspector or similar role.
- Knowledge of inspection tools and instruments.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Ability to troubleshoot using basic problem-solving techniques.
- Comfortable working in a shop environment.
- Proficiency using MS Office is a plus.
- Communication skills include written and oral communication, active listening, and nonverbal communication.
- Willingness to learn and ask questions.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility with work schedule, including the ability to work additional hours beyond the standard schedule in any given week as needed. Overtime may be needed to meet production schedules.

Physical Demands
Physical demands: shop-floor inspection work may require standing, walking, bending, and use of appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the work area.
Work Conditions Of The Role Are
- Work conditions may involve a shop environment with exposure to production activity, tools, equipment, materials, and changing priorities. The company is committed to providing reasonable accommodation for individuals with physical limitations or disabilities.
- Must be able to work safely in a shop environment and follow all basic safety precautions.
- Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate PPE where required, including safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location.
