  • Location: Colchester, Essex
  • Category: Engineering / Quality / Manufacturing
  • Salary / Pay Rate: £20.00 – £24.00 per hour (Guide rate, competitive and dependent on experience)
  • Shift / Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm

About The Role

All Square Recruitment is excited to partner with a reputable engineering client based in Colchester, Essex, to recruit an experienced Quality Inspector for a short-term contract assignment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented metrology professional to provide dimensional measurement support using Romer Arm and CMM equipment, working within a structured quality environment on a well-established manufacturing site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings accurately, including dimensions, tolerances, units, revisions, notes, and title blocks.
  • Apply general tolerancing principles, correctly distinguishing between drawing-wide and individually toleranced dimensions.
  • Demonstrate a working understanding of GD&T, including flatness, straightness, parallelism, perpendicularity, position, profile, and datums.
  • Carry out precise external, internal, step, and depth measurements using vernier and digital callipers.
  • Set up and operate a Romer Arm with AS1 scanner, including referencing, probing/scanning, alignment, feature construction, and reporting.
  • Prepare surfaces and apply correct scanning technique to ensure full coverage and recognise poor-quality point-cloud data.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, capturing measured values, equipment ID, drawing revision, and acceptance status.
  • Check equipment calibration status prior to use and follow correct procedures for overdue or damaged equipment.
  • Identify and quarantine nonconforming product, raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) rather than independently accepting deviations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
