Quality Control Inspectors Wanted for Nuclear Defence Project in Devonport
We have a fantastic opportunity for a number of Quality Control Inspectors to join a Nuclear Defence project in Devonport, to provide project civil oversight of all quality related activities throughout the whole project lifecycle.
This is a great opportunity to be involved in one of the most complex and challenging projects in the UK today.
Contract Roles, Expected to be Outside IR35, 12 Month Contracts. Good Rates DOE.
Due to continued growth, the position of Quality Control Engineer/Inspector has become available to join our successful team based in Plymouth.
This is for Night Shifts 7pm - 5:30am; the first month will be day shifts then will move to nights.
Mon-Thur x 1.33 rate - Fri-Sun x 2 rate
4 days on / 4 days off
Expenses are claimable on top of rate.
South based is Ideal but if you are willing to travel in your own time can be further afield (travelling expenses only cover 4 hours from site. E.g. If you are 8 hours from site, 4 hours would have to be done your own time)
SC clearance preferred, but candidates willing to obtain will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Quality Control (QC) Inspection in accordance with relevant specifications and ITP requirement
- Attend Kick-Off meetings and where applicable Pre-Inspection Production Meetings (PIPM)
- Participate in Supply Chain Pre-Assessments and Capability Reviews (where requested)
- Ensure Dimensional Reports are produced and include verification of critical parameters identified in the Drawings, Quality Plan and ITP.
- Monitor adherence to approved Procedures, Technique Sheets, Quality Plans and ITPs.
- Ensure only SQEP personnel undertake work tasks, inspection and testing activities
- Witness execution of work tasks, inspection and testing activities, Factory and Site Acceptance Tests
- During inspection and test activities verify that the Contractor's inspection and test equipment is calibrated to contractual requirements (contract requirement may require calibration to be performed by UKAS accredited calibration body or is traceable to UKAS calibrated equipment)
- Ensure that any inspection findings are appropriately reported, corrected, and verified.
- Ensure the production/construction environment and equipment used is suitable for manufacture, installation, inspection or test.
- Produce and circulate Inspection Reports (Daily/Weekly) as per agreed reporting requirements.
- Report progress to the Quality Engineer / Quality Manager
- Ensure Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) are generated concurrent with manufacturing and site activities, and ensure verification of records is carried out in a timely manner and report deviations to this process
- Carry out Final Inspection and Issue of Certificate of Release, or other contract specific release certificate
- Where applicable complete a Contract Close Out Report.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

- Previous experience in quality and/or inspections in construction projects.
- Previous experience in Civil construction
- Ability to obtain SC Clearance.
- Ability to understand Civil Standards, specifications and drawings
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
- Nuclear or MOD Experience.
- Microsoft Office capable/literate.
- Previous experience in quality and inspections in construction projects of a similar size and complexity
Essential Qualifications:
- Civil Qualification or suitable experience in similar environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
- ISO 9001 Auditor.
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar.
- CSCS Card.
