Job Summary

The Highway’s Quality Inspector is responsible for traveling to site to monitor and inspect all aspects of work being carried out on a day to day basis. The role ensures works are carried out in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), project specifications, and applicable standards. The inspector will report findings to internal quality teams, providing clear feedback and practical solutions where issues are identified.

Travel Requirement (Essential And Non-Negotiable)

Travel between sites is a required aspect of this role, particularly to provide cover across locations during periods of annual leave, sickness, or other operational needs. Work locations may vary in line with business requirements, and flexibility in working hours or occasional overnight stays may be required.

  • Travel to sites to inspect and monitor day to day activities being carried out.
  • Ensure all stages of operations taken place comply with approved ITPs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Verify that inspections, testing, and records are completed in line with quality requirements.
  • Identify non-conformances and quality issues, documenting findings accurately.
  • Report inspection results clearly.
  • Work collaboratively with production teams and to offer practical solutions and corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying trends and recommending process improvements.
  • Ensure all inspections and reports are completed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Comply with site safety rules and company policies at all times.
  • Rota-based shift working may be required, including night shifts and weekend working, in line with operational requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous Highways experience desirable.
  • Understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., British Standards or project-specific standards) desirable.
  • Full, valid driving licence required.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Highways Passport.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Confident engaging with production teams on-site.
