Quality Inspector - Colchester - Day Shift - Temporary - Up to £14p/h
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Inspector to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in Colchester. This is a temporary opportunity. Working within a busy manufacturing environment producing specialist air movement and ventilation equipment. This role would suit someone with previous inspection or quality experience who is confident working from engineering drawings and using measuring equipment.
About The Role
Working within the quality and production environment, you will be responsible for inspecting manufactured components and ensuring they meet the required drawing specifications and tolerances. Using a range of precision measuring equipment and maintaining accurate inspection records. Experience with advanced scanning equipment would be advantageous as well as a good understanding of engineering inspection and the ability to work accurately.

Key Responsibilities
- Inspecting components against engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications
- Reading dimensions, tolerances, units, revisions and drawing notes
- Understanding general tolerances and individually toleranced dimensions
- Using Vernier and digital calipers for external, internal, step and depth measurements
- Supporting inspection using Romer Arm and AS1 scanning equipment
- Recording actual measured values, equipment ID, drawing revision and acceptance status
- Checking calibration status of inspection equipment before use
- Identifying and quarantining non-conforming products
- Raising NCRs where products do not meet the required specification

The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience within quality inspection or a similar engineering environment
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Good understanding of dimensions and tolerances
- Confident using Vernier or digital calipers
- Strong attention to detail and methodical approach
- Comfortable recording inspection results accurately
- Good communication skills
- Able to work effectively within a busy manufacturing environment
