Principal Quality Inspector
BAE Systems | Barrow-in-Furness
Duration: 12 months
Working Hours: 37 Hours per week (Standard BAE)
Working Arrangements: 4 Days per week onsite (Potentially Flexible)
Hourly Rate: £35 PAYE or £47.12 Umbrella

BAE Systems is recruiting for a Principal Quality Inspector to join its team in Barrow-in-Furness. This role will support the delivery of quality inspections across complex engineering programmes, ensuring products meet required standards and specifications throughout the build process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out quality inspections and assurance activities
  • Verify and manage non-conformances
  • Support quality investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Use measuring equipment to assess product compliance
  • Review and report inspection findings
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams
  • Support the development of quality processes and best practices
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues within the Quality function

About You

  • Experience within a Quality Inspection or Quality Assurance environment
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 and/or EN9100 standards
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and procedures
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, marine, defence or heavy industry environments would be advantageous
  • NC/HNC in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Time-served trade background desirable
