About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Measurement Specialist to join our team at the Telford facility. This role is integral to our manufacturing process, ensuring that all components meet stringent quality standards through precise measurement and inspection techniques. The successful candidate will work closely with CNC operators and production teams to verify dimensions, assess quality, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in dimensional inspection and CMM operation to advance their careers within a global defense organization. Intensive on-the-job training will be provided to support your success in this role.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical training and practical experience, including:

  • Completed vocational training as an industrial mechanic, CMM operator, CNC operator, or a comparable qualification.
  • Experience in dimensional inspection and measurement of mechanically machined components, preferably using CMM technology.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings and creating measurement plans.
  • Hands-on experience operating Zeiss and Hexagon CMM measuring machines, with familiarity in measurement software such as Zeiss CALYPSO and Hexagon PC-DMIS.
  • Competence in using conventional and electronic measuring tools, including micrometers, vernier/digital calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, dial indicators, and thread, plug, or ring gauges.
  • Ability to follow detailed inspection plans, accurately record measurement results, and identify out-of-tolerance conditions or equipment issues promptly.
  • Willingness to work in a three-shift pattern to support manufacturing operations.
  • Strong organizational skills, a structured and independent work approach, effective communication, flexibility, and reliability.
  • Motivation to contribute to a high-performance team and commitment to quality standards.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Quality Measurement Specialist include:

  • Operating Zeiss and Hexagon Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) or similar equipment, including setup, alignment, fixture loading, program selection, and executing measurements in accordance with inspection plans.
  • Performing inspection of mechanically processed components during and after production using hand-held measuring instruments, electronic measuring devices, or 3D measurement systems such as Zeiss Prismo.
  • Testing components as per detailed test instructions and preparing comprehensive test reports.
  • Reviewing measurement data and communicating results effectively to CNC operators and production leadership to facilitate informed machining decisions.
  • Providing feedback on test procedures and measurement results to update the Business Data Entry (BDE) system accurately.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area in accordance with 5S standards to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Adhering to all health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations and standards to uphold the integrity of the manufacturing process.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and defect reduction.
