Quality Manager

Lewes, East Sussex

Up to £60,000 DOE

What will you be doing?

  • Carrying out incoming ingredient and packaging checks, including CoA verification and spec compliance.
  • Applying finished goods release criteria, including artwork, shelf-life, and storage checks.
  • Running routine testing and trend analysis, escalating any out-of-trend results.
  • Investigating consumer and retail quality complaints and driving root-cause analysis.
  • Delivering CAPAs through to closure, working across internal teams, suppliers, and manufacturers.
  • Supporting incident management, batch traceability, and the annual mock recall exercise.
  • Managing supplier and co-manufacturer approval, audits, and performance scorecards.
  • Maintaining specifications, controlled documents, and audit-ready traceability records.
  • Supporting certification pathways including SALSA, MSC, and Organic.
  • Embedding quality and food safety thinking into new product development.

Who are we looking for?

Someone who thrives on detail and doing things properly, with:

  • Solid experience in quality management or QA within food, wellness, or consumer goods.
  • Third-party manufacturing exposure is a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards, and labelling requirements; a food safety qualification is a bonus.
  • Hands-on experience of QC processes: CoA review, goods-in checks, release criteria, and trend analysis.
  • A track record of investigating complaints and running CAPA processes with internal and external partners.
  • Exposure to certification audits such as SALSA, BRC, ISO, Organic, or MSC.
  • Excellent organisation and record-keeping, with a systematic approach to documentation.
  • A clear, confident communicator who’s comfortable working cross-functionally and with external partners.
  • An analytical, proactive mindset with a genuine appetite for continuous improvement.
