Quality Manager (Internal Audit)
Remote, with occasional travel to client sites
£48,226 to £52,413 depending on experience
Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week with flexible working
I am recruiting a Quality Manager for a well established, not-for-profit internal audit partnership delivering assurance services to public sector organisations across the UK. Remote-first, genuinely flexible, and a supportive team culture.
The Role
You will own the operational delivery of the organisation's audit methodology and quality assurance arrangements across internal audit and specialist services. That means keeping the audit manual, templates and tools current and usable, planning and undertaking file reviews, tracking improvement actions, and supporting staff to actually apply the changes in practice.
You will work closely with the Director of Professional Practice, Assistant Directors and specialist leads to identify themes, share learning and embed continuous improvement. The role also supports administration of the Enterprise Risk Management framework, coordinating risk register updates and maintaining reliable records.

What You Will Be Doing
- Maintaining audit guidance, methodologies, templates and supporting tools
- Translating changes in professional standards into clear, proportionate procedures
- Delivering a risk-based programme of QA reviews across completed and live engagements
- Applying independent judgement to file reviews and agreeing improvement actions with teams
- Analysing results to identify recurring themes, systemic issues and good practice
- Preparing quality reports and evidence to support the QAIP and external quality assessment
- Briefing and coaching staff through written guidance, workshops and drop-in sessions
- Coordinating enterprise risk register updates and supporting risk reporting
What You Will Need
- Significant internal audit experience at Principal Auditor level or equivalent, including planning, delivery, supervision and review of complex assignments
- A relevant professional qualification in internal audit or assurance, or demonstrably equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of the Global Internal Audit Standards, public sector requirements and the operation of a QAIP
- Experience of file review, quality assurance or methodology development
- Strong coaching and communication skills, with the confidence to give constructive challenge and escalate quality concerns
- Full right to work in the UK
