About the Role

We are seeking a Quality Manager to join our team in Leeds. This role exists to lead the quality function and take responsibility for the effectiveness of the quality management system and quality performance across internal departments and the supply chain. You will be responsible for setting clear quality objectives, establishing consistent standards and driving improvements throughout production and delivery.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Quality Manager looking to join a stable, international engineering business with long-term growth plans, bringing strong expertise in ISO 9001, quality management systems, auditing, root cause analysis and continuous improvement within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own and maintain the quality management system in line with ISO 9001 requirements, ensuring procedures, quality records and document controls are effective and consistently applied.
  • Agree quality objectives and improvement priorities with the Group Head of SHEQ. Develop and deliver an improvement plan with clear owners, timescales and measures of success.
  • Lead quality activities across engineering, manufacturing, procurement and service teams. Provide direction, coaching and training, and manage any assigned quality personnel.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards across the business. Ensure internal teams and suppliers understand product requirements, specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Plan and lead internal, supplier and subcontractor audits; coordinate external quality audits and ensure findings are addressed and actions closed effectively.
  • Report quality performance, significant risks and improvement progress to the Group Head of SHEQ. Monitor trends in defects, complaints, supplier performance, corrective actions and the cost of poor quality.
  • Read and check engineering drawings, specifications and quality records for accuracy and compliance with applicable requirements. Work with engineering teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Oversee and carry out inspection and quality control activities as required. Ensure inspection arrangements and records support product conformity throughout production and delivery.
  • Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), investigate quality issues and lead root cause analysis. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), verify their effectiveness and prevent recurrence.
  • Manage, investigate and resolve customer complaints, coordinating timely responses and corrective actions with the relevant teams and communicating outcomes to customers.
  • Work with procurement, suppliers and subcontractors to resolve quality concerns, improve performance and confirm that purchased products and services meet agreed requirements.
  • Lead product and process improvement activities using appropriate quality tools and data. Reduce defects, rework and waste while supporting business objectives.
  • Create and maintain training materials and best practice guides for staff and suppliers and assess whether training improves understanding and performance.
  • Escalate significant quality risks promptly and coordinate containment and disposition of non-conforming products in line with agreed procedures and delegated authority. (Responsibilities will reflect business priorities and may evolve in line with operational needs.)

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
