Quality Manager

Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Employment Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time - 40 hours per week
Salary: £55,000-£65,000 + package

The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Quality Manager to join an established engineering and manufacturing business based in Walsall.
The Quality Manager will take responsibility for quality assurance, quality control, compliance and continuous improvement across the business. You will ensure products, services and processes meet statutory, industry and internal quality requirements while promoting a strong right-first-time culture.
This position would suit an experienced Quality professional from a fabrication, manufacturing, engineering or related technical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop the Integrated Management System in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards including BS EN 1090, ISO 3834, LOLER and PUWER.
  • Conduct internal quality inspections and audits.
  • Manage supplier audits and monitor supply-chain quality performance.
  • Investigate quality issues, defects and non-conformances.
  • Manage NCP and CAPA processes and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce defects, rework and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support the development and maintenance of quality accreditations.
  • Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, material traceability and coating requirements.
  • Develop project and contract-specific Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure accurate quality documentation and Manufacturer's Data Records are maintained.
  • Oversee calibration, inspection and certification requirements.
  • Ensure plant, lifting equipment and safety assets comply with relevant regulations.
  • Lead and develop quality personnel, setting objectives and supporting professional development.
  • Work closely with operational, fabrication, engineering and senior management teams.
  • Promote continuous improvement and a strong quality culture throughout the organisation.

Essential Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Previous experience in a Quality Manager, Quality Lead or similar senior quality position.
  • Experience within fabrication, manufacturing or engineering.
  • Strong understanding of EN 1090 and ISO 3834.
  • Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER requirements.
  • Experience managing internal and external audits.
  • Strong knowledge of non-conformance, root-cause investigation and CAPA processes.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • Degree or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) or similar professional body.
  • Knowledge of ISO 50001.
  • Experience within steel fabrication, welding or a technically regulated manufacturing environment.

Package

The successful candidate will receive a £55,000-£65,000 salary plus a comprehensive benefits package, alongside ongoing training, development and career progression opportunities.
