Quality Manager

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000

Location: Rochford, Essex

Hours: Full Time | 4-Day Working Week (Monday-Thursday, 06:45-16:30)

The Opportunity

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established aerospace manufacturer looking to appoint an experienced Quality Manager to lead its Quality and Inspection function.

This is a key leadership role, reporting directly to the General Manager, where you'll take ownership of the Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with AS9100 Rev D, ISO 9001 and relevant aerospace regulatory requirements. You'll play a pivotal role in driving quality standards, supporting operational excellence and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the business.

The Role

You'll lead the Quality and Inspection team, overseeing all aspects of quality assurance throughout the manufacturing process to ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory and industry requirements.

Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you'll manage audits, quality systems, inspections and compliance activities while supporting strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and continually improve the Quality Management System in line with AS9100 Rev D, ISO 9001 and applicable aerospace requirements.
  • Manage the Quality and Inspection team, providing leadership, coaching and development.
  • Oversee inspection, testing and quality assurance activities across the manufacturing process.
  • Manage internal, supplier and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented.
  • Lead root cause investigations, non-conformance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain calibration systems and ensure inspection equipment remains compliant.
  • Review and approve First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and associated quality documentation.
  • Monitor quality performance through KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Act as the primary quality contact for customers, suppliers and certification bodies.
  • Support wider operational and business improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful, you'll have:

  • Essential experience as a Quality Manager within the UK aerospace manufacturing sector.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 Rev D, ISO 9001 and relevant EASA requirements.
  • Internal Auditor qualification with experience leading quality audits.
  • Experience producing and approving AS9102 FAIR documentation.
  • Excellent understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and quality assurance.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing quality or inspection teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills with the confidence to engage at all levels.
