Role Overview and Responsibilities
We are looking for an influential and driven Quality Manager to join our Resistor's leadership team in Bedlington.
This is a key senior management position at the Bedlington site, with responsibility for leading and developing our Quality function while supporting the continued growth and success of our manufacturing operation.
Working closely with the General Manager for Bedlington Resistors, you'll play a critical role in driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance with industry standards, improving business performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
By building strong relationships across all levels of the business, you'll drive continuous improvement, balancing quality, customer, operational and commercial priorities, and helping to shape and develop the future Quality strategy for the Bedlington Resistors site.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Quality Leadership
- Lead and develop the site's Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and operational performance.
- Manage customer complaints, corrective actions and root cause investigations.
- Lead internal, supplier and customer audits.
- Monitor quality performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Promote a culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Quality & Reliability Laboratory Management
- Provide leadership and oversight of the Quality & Reliability Laboratory.
- Ensure testing and product release activities are carried out accurately and in line with customer and industry requirements.
- Support reliability testing, product qualification and compliance activities.
- Review laboratory capability, performance and future investment requirements.

Continuous Improvement
- Lead improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and other quality methodologies.
- Drive defect reduction, waste elimination and process capability improvements.
- Support digitalisation and automation initiatives that improve quality and business performance.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract based at our Bedlington Resistors site.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
What We're Looking For:
- Significant experience in a Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience leading audits, quality investigations and corrective action programmes.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Quality or a related discipline.
- Proven experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
The following would enhance your application but are not essential to apply:
- Electronics, electrical component or related manufacturing background.
- Knowledge of AS9100, IATF16949 or TS16949.
- Experience with CECC standards and reliability testing.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma qualifications.
- Exposure to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Experience using ERP systems, ideally SAP.
