About The Role
To ensure necessary legislative and agreed quality standards concerning hygiene, food handling and food safety are met at reasonable cost. You'll set standards and implement procedures to ensure that compliance programmes throughout the site are effective in identifying, preventing, detecting and correcting non-compliance with applicable laws, regulations and relevant compliance standards. You'll also effectively manage the Quality Assurance team to control and monitor product quality, GMP compliance and legal requirements, driving appropriate action as required.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and manage the Quality Assurance team to drive product quality, GMP compliance and adherence to all legal requirements, taking corrective action where needed.
- Support the Technical Manager and Plant Manager with the development and rollout of the site's Quality and Compliance strategy.
- Ensure effective HACCP systems are in operation, supporting the Food Safety Officer with implementation, training and coordination of HACCP teams.
- Ensure effective TACCP and site security programmes are in place, with adequate training and regular review.
- Co-ordinate, respond to and investigate customer complaints to root cause, initiating appropriate corrective actions with relevant departmental managers.
- Develop and maintain an audit programme, ensuring the site meets regulatory, customer, BRC and all other audit requirements.
- Own site-level foreign material control, including metal detection and X-ray equipment performance, working with engineering to verify physical and software detection configurations.
- Manage microbiological and chemical testing regimes, co-ordinating results analysis and initiating corrective action as necessary.
- Analyse site complaint data to identify trends and recurring root causes, using this insight to prioritise corrective action and inform annual quality planning.
- Ensure all products dispatched for sale are legal, safe and compliant with relevant specifications.
What you'll need to be successful
- Experience working within a factory environment, with quality inspection, auditing and testing experience.
- Food sensory knowledge and food quality experience, gained within the food industry.
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs, SAP and food industry standards.
- Excellent numerical, literacy and computer skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments and with external customers.
- Strong knowledge of QA tools, concepts and methodologies, with proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.

About The Team
You’ll be based at our Wombourne plant in Staffordshire. And together our small, but perfectly formed team of over 110 colleagues produce our famous (and well loved) potato Smiles as well as our pre-baked Jacket Spuds.
