We're recruiting for a Quality Professional to support quality management and continuous improvement activities within a leading Subsea business. Working across Engineering, Manufacturing, Projects and Supply Chain, you'll drive quality culture, risk management, compliance and process improvement initiatives. Experience with ISO 9001, quality systems and engineering/manufacturing environments is desirable.

Position Overview

The Quality Professional supports the development, implementation and continuous improvement of quality concepts, methods, tools and procedures across the Subsea business.

Working within an agile and Lean-oriented Quality Management System, the role helps ensure quality requirements, risks and controls are effectively embedded within the assigned organisation, processes and ways of working.

Working closely with management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Supply Chain and other supporting functions, the Quality Professional promotes a transparent and open quality culture, creates visibility of quality performance and risk, and supports timely decision-making, preventive action and continuous improvement.

The role also provides guidance and training in defined quality areas and helps coordinate quality activities across internal, external and cross-site stakeholder networks.

The role combines quality-system discipline with practical improvement activity, supporting customer experience, risk-based thinking, compliance, digital quality solutions and Lean process improvement across the end-to-end value chain.

Main Purpose

To support the effective implementation and continual improvement of the Quality Management System within the Subsea business, ensuring quality risks are identified and controlled, relevant standards and requirements are applied, quality performance is transparent and employees are equipped to apply consistent quality methods.

The role will work across functions and quality networks to strengthen quality culture, improve customer experience, enable preventive action and support sustainable business performance.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Quality Management System Implementation

  • Support the development, implementation, assessment and continual improvement of quality concepts, procedures, methods and tools within the assigned Subsea organisation or quality area, ensuring they are practical, effective and aligned with business needs.

Quality Culture

  • Work with management and functional teams to promote an open, transparent and proactive quality culture in which issues are raised early, learning is shared and prevention is prioritised over reaction.

Risk-Based Quality Management

  • Provide guidance to ensure quality risks are identified, evaluated, considered and controlled throughout relevant business, design and operational processes and through the effective use of the Quality Management System.

Customer Experience and Feedback

  • Support the monitoring and review of customer experience and satisfaction measures across the end-to-end customer journey, including NPS, CXI and other relevant feedback mechanisms where applicable, ensuring insights are translated into appropriate improvement actions.

Quality Transparency and Data Analysis

  • Create clear, timely and accessible visibility of quality performance, risks and trends through appropriate data, dashboards and ad-hoc analysis, enabling evidence-based decision-making, preventive action and continuous improvement.

Preventive Quality and Continuous Improvement

  • Use quality data, risk information, lessons learned and structured improvement methods to identify emerging issues, strengthen controls and improve business and product quality performance.

Standards and Compliance

  • Ensure relevant quality standards, legal requirements, internal procedures and customer requirements are understood, implemented and periodically assessed within the assigned organisation or quality area.

Digital Quality Improvement

  • Identify, develop and support innovative digital solutions that improve quality transparency, efficiency, traceability and decision-making, encouraging creative thinking and practical application of new approaches.

Lean and Agile Improvement

  • Coach and support team members involved in Lean or agile improvement activities and, where appropriate, coordinate or lead improvement initiatives using recognised methods such as PDCA, problem solving, Value Stream Mapping and agile project practices.

Process Improvement

  • Analyse end-to-end processes and connected process steps to identify waste, quality risks, control weaknesses and opportunities for improved flow, standardisation and effectiveness.

Quality Training and Coaching

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver training and guidance for employees in relevant quality methods, processes, tools and behaviours, supporting consistent application across the organisation.

Quality Coordination

  • Coordinate quality-related activities and, where required, groups of quality professionals or subject-matter contributors without direct line-management responsibility, ensuring actions, priorities and deliverables remain aligned.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Ensure effective cooperation with internal and external stakeholders, clarifying quality requirements, resolving issues and supporting coordinated decision-making across functions and partner organisations.

Quality Network Coordination

  • Support or coordinate assigned national and international quality networks in a defined quality area, promoting alignment, standardisation, knowledge sharing and effective transfer of lessons learned across sites and functions.

  • Provide clear quality information, advice and escalation to accountable management where significant quality risks, compliance concerns or systemic issues require leadership attention or decision.

Audit and Management System Assurance

  • Support internal, customer and external audits and other management-system assurance activities, ensuring findings, risks and improvement actions are appropriately addressed and sustained.

Cross-functional Improvement

  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Supply Chain, Operations and other supporting functions to ensure quality considerations are integrated into business decisions and improvement activities.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Education & Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Business Improvement or a related discipline, or demonstrable equivalent industrial experience.
  • Professional engineering or quality membership, or progress towards professional registration, would be advantageous.

Quality & Industry Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in Quality Management, Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement or a related role within an engineering, manufacturing or technically regulated environment.
  • Experience within Subsea, Oil & Gas, Energy, Automotive, Aerospace, Defence or another highly controlled engineering/manufacturing sector would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry-specific quality standards, customer requirements, legal requirements and quality-management practices.
  • Good practical understanding of Quality Management Systems, risk-based thinking, quality planning, assurance and continuous-improvement principles.

Tools, Methods & Process Improvement

  • Experience using quality and improvement methods such as PDCA, root-cause analysis, Value Stream Mapping, process mapping and structured problem solving.
  • Ability to analyse quality and customer data, identify trends and risks, and translate findings into clear preventive or improvement actions.
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance assessments, management-system reviews or improvement activities within an established Quality Management System.
  • Confidence using digital tools, dashboards or data-driven solutions to improve transparency, traceability and decision-making.

Communication & Leadership

  • Strong communication, facilitation, coaching and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and organisational levels.
  • Ability to coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders, quality disciplines, sites or networks without relying on formal line-management authority.
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction, quality culture, compliance, prevention, continuous improvement and right-first-time delivery.
