In today’s increasingly complex global tax environment, having international reach, a strong local presence and the right expertise is critical to the successful execution of all client tax affairs. Our growing team has a new requirement for a Quality Risk Manager to join the team. The Quality Risk Manager (QRM) will support the management of quality risk processes within the EMEA Tax Practice at Alvarez & Marsal. The QRM will assist with the development and enhancement of quality processes, practices and contracting approaches, while collaborating with subject matter experts to address risk-related matters in accordance with A&M guidelines and procedures.
The QRM will support the review and resolution of contractual and general risk management queries, escalating issues where appropriate. This role involves identifying, assessing and monitoring risks that could impact quality and compliance with regulatory standards. The QRM will work closely with colleagues across the business to support the integration of quality risk management practices into day-to-day activities.
Skills and attributes for success:
- Good understanding of risk management principles, with the ability to analyse queries and support the identification of appropriate solutions and mitigation strategies.
- Ability to assess risk and contracting matters and apply sound judgement when escalating issues as appropriate.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders to support the implementation of quality and risk management processes.
- Approachable, responsive and team-oriented, with a willingness to learn and develop expertise in contractual, regulatory and risk-related matters.
- A pragmatic and organised problem solver with strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working with colleagues across different teams and geographies to support the delivery of risk management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation and maintenance of quality risk management policies, procedures and processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and assist in identifying and documenting potential quality and compliance risks.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to support the development and implementation of risk mitigation actions.
- Monitor and track risk management activities and assist in evaluating their effectiveness.
- Support compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, internal policies and professional standards.
- Provide guidance and support to engagement teams on quality and risk management matters, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Assist with the preparation of risk management reporting and documentation for leadership and governance purposes.
- Maintain awareness of industry developments, regulatory changes and emerging risk management practices.
- Support the development, maintenance and periodic updating of quality assurance documentation, guidance and related materials.
- Contribute to process improvement and standardisation initiatives across the quality and risk management function.
Qualifications:
- Experience in quality risk management, compliance, risk, legal, or a related role within a professional services environment.
- Good understanding of regulatory requirements, professional standards and risk management principles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to research issues and identify practical solutions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Experience within a Tax environment or a relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ICAEW, CPA, tax or legal qualification) would be advantageous.
