Quality & Security Manager
6 month fixed-term contract
£47,500 per annum
The Quality & Security Manager is a key member of the Business Operations function and is responsible for providing independent assurance across Unifi Aviation UK & Ireland operations. The role leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation’s Quality Assurance and Aviation Security frameworks, ensuring that operational activities remain compliant with Unifi standards, airline customer requirements, airport procedures and applicable regulatory obligations. The position is responsible for identifying areas of operational and regulatory risk, evaluating the effectiveness of existing controls, driving corrective and preventative action, and ensuring that lessons learned are translated into sustainable operational improvement.
Working closely with Operations, Training, Compliance, Safety, Security and Customer teams, the Quality & Security Manager will provide clear oversight of performance, assurance and regulatory readiness across the network.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Governance
- Develop, implement and maintain a structured UK & Ireland Quality Assurance programme aligned with Unifi, airline customer and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and manage a risk-based programme of audits, inspections, observations, active monitoring and covert testing to provide assurance that operational standards are being consistently applied.
- Conduct station, customer and process audits to identify deficiencies, control weaknesses and emerging risks.
- Ensure audit findings are supported by appropriate root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions, clearly defined ownership and evidence-based closure.
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and verify that improvements remain embedded within the operation.
- Identify operational trends and recurring issues through analysis of audits, incidents, customer feedback and performance data.
- Provide clear recommendations to senior leadership where systemic issues or business risks are identified.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Quality Management System and associated governance processes.
Aviation Security
- Support the implementation and ongoing assurance of aviation security requirements across Unifi UK & Ireland operations.
- Ensure operational security processes remain aligned with applicable regulatory, airport and airline customer requirements.
- Conduct aviation security audits, inspections and assurance activities across relevant operations.
- Provide oversight of Secure Aircraft Cleaning/Search processes, access control requirements and other security-sensitive activities where applicable.
- Monitor security training and competency requirements and ensure appropriate records and assurance are maintained.
- Support governance around CTC clearance, security training and operational deployment to ensure colleagues are not authorised to undertake security-related duties before all required clearance, training and competency requirements are complete.
- Support investigation and management of aviation security incidents, breaches, audit findings and regulatory concerns.
- Work closely with airport authorities, airline customers and regulatory stakeholders where required.
- Maintain readiness for CAA, IAA, airport and airline security audits and inspections.

Corrective Action & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or support root cause analysis following significant audit findings, incidents, repeated quality failures or security concerns.
- Develop corrective actions that address the underlying cause of identified issues rather than only immediate symptoms.
- Monitor corrective action plans through to effective closure.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, training, competency and governance.
- Ensure lessons learned are communicated across the relevant locations and functions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational quality, security, customer performance and compliance.
Training & Competency Assurance
- Work closely with the Learning & Development team to ensure training programmes remain aligned with operational, customer and regulatory requirements.
- Review training and competency records as part of audit and assurance activities.
- Identify trends where training or competency may be contributing to operational or compliance failures.
- Recommend refresher training, coaching or competency reassessment where appropriate.
- Verify that corrective training actions are completed and effective.
Operational & Customer Assurance
- Conduct station visits to evaluate operational security performance.
- Provide coaching and constructive feedback to station and regional leadership.
- Support mobilisation of new airline contracts and operational changes from a Quality and Security perspective.
- Ensure customer-specific operating standards are understood and consistently applied.
- Support airline customer audits and provide evidence of corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Build effective working relationships with airline customers, airport authorities and key internal stakeholders.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Develop and maintain Quality and Security performance dashboards and reporting.
- Monitor key indicators including audit performance, corrective action closure, recurring findings, training compliance, security incidents and customer performance.
- Provide regular assurance reports to the Vice President – Business Operations and senior leadership.
- Escalate significant risks, repeat non-compliance or ineffective controls promptly.
- Contribute to Business Operations governance meetings, management reviews and customer performance reviews.

Required Qualifications / Skills / Experience
- Experience in Aviation Security, Compliance, Safety or Operational Leadership within aviation or another highly regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of audit, assurance, root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Ability to independently undertake operational and regulatory assessments and produce clear, comprehensive reports.
- Strong investigative and analytical capability.
- Proven ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across different locations.
- Strong technical and business writing capability.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office 365 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Ability to interpret operational data and identify trends, risk and improvement opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Experience within airline, airport or ground handling operations.
- Experience working with aviation security requirements, airline security programmes or regulatory aviation security frameworks.
- Experience supporting CAA, IAA, airport or airline customer audits.
- Experience implementing or managing Quality Assurance or Security Management programmes.
- Aviation Security Manager or equivalent security training/qualification.
Work Environment
- The role operates across both office and operational aviation environments.
- The role may require flexible working hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays, depending on operational or audit requirements.
- Regular travel across the UK & Ireland will be required, with occasional international travel depending on business needs.

Reports to: Vice President – Business Operations
Works closely with: Operations, Training, Safety, Security, Resourcing, Vetting, HR, Airline Customers and Airport Authorities.
