£44,642 to £49,894 + up to 6% bonus Location: Ambergate or Birmingham
Working pattern: Site-based, 5 days a week Travel: Regular travel to other NGS operational locations and customer sites as required Location requirement: Must be based within reasonable travelling distance of the Ambergate or Birmingham office Flexibility: While this is primarily a site-based role, occasional home working may be available where operationally appropriate
About the role
Join National Gas Services (NGS) as a Quality Support Engineer and play a key role in ensuring our projects meet the highest quality standards.
You'll support project teams by compiling client databooks, managing quality records, and helping maintain compliance across project delivery from start to finish.

Quality documentation and compliance are vital to delivering successful projects for our customers. In this role, you'll help ensure every project is supported by accurate records, robust quality controls, and complete client documentation.
Working within NGS, you'll contribute to the safe and reliable delivery of infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland. Your attention to detail will help maintain customer confidence, support continuous improvement, and uphold the standards that underpin our operations.
What you'll be doing
- Compile and maintain project databooks in line with customer requirements and agreed timescales
- Review project documentation and ensure quality records are complete, accurate, and traceable
- Inspect incoming materials and supporting quality documentation and maintain inspection registers
- Support operational teams to apply quality processes consistently across projects
- Monitor compliance with documented procedures and identify opportunities for improvement
- Support internal audits and depot inspections against ISO 9001:2015 requirements
- Collaborate with project, planning, commercial, and quality teams to achieve successful project outcomes

What you'll bring
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with detail, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to make a visible impact on project quality and customer satisfaction.
Essential
- Experience supporting project delivery or project documentation processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Understanding of quality inspection processes and quality documentation
- Knowledge of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications and digital document management systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work to deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience within manufacturing, construction, utilities, engineering, or the gas industry
- Awareness of ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards
- Experience compiling project completion packs or customer databooks
- Experience using SharePoint for document control and record management
- Knowledge of welding, inspection, certification, or material traceability records
